Master’s Student on Erasmus internship at Trinity College Botanic Garden

Tina is a French student on the end-of-study internship at the Trinity College Botanic Garden. She has an undergraduate degree in biology and specialized in plant biology during her master’s degree named Plants and Society at the University of Poitiers.

She is interested in the field of conservation of plant biodiversity and also in public awareness of environmental issues and the crucial importance of plants. During her first year of master’s, she did an internship at the Angers Natural Science Museum, where she worked on a bryophytes herbarium created at the end of the 19th century.

The main objective of her internship is the development of a geographical strategy for the collection of seed accessions of Irish threatened plant species. The map will allow researchers to target the timing and location of future plant conservation efforts via seed banking. Another part of her internship will focus on the long-term monitoring of trees for the Witness Tree project, which began two years ago.
