Dr William Mathaeus

Postdoctoral Researcher on the ERC funded TERRAFORM project.

William is a postdoctoral research fellow on the ERC funded TERRAFORM project. He is broadly interested in advancing the mechanistic representation of ecosystems and evolution in mathematical and simulation models. His recent research has focused on developing and refining approaches to evaluate plant function and vegetation-climate interactions across geologic time based on fossil-derived plant functional traits. In the course of this work, William was awarded his Ph.D. in Biology at Baylor University in 2021. He also holds a Masters focused on population genetics from the same institution and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Delaware, including applied research using numerical integration and machine learning.

William (or Will) is currently enjoying getting to know Dublin with his dog Oreo. When his feet are too sore, he enjoys cooking, music, board games, coffee, and conversation.
