Leticia Candido is a Postdoctoral Researcher on The Witness Tree Project. She graduated from the State University of Maringá (Brazil) and holds a PhD in Plant Biodiversity and Environment from the Environmental Research Institute of São Paulo. Her academic work centres on Nature-based solutions, with a focus on urban forests, urban green areas, tree diversity and ecophysiology.
Duringher PhD research, she investigated urban tree ecophysiology and ecosystem functioning, with emphasis on long-term monitoring of tree growth and water stress in urban parks of São Paulo. Her work integrates biodiversity, ecosystem services, and resilience approaches to support better planning and management of urban green infrastructure under changing environmental conditions.
She also completed a research semester at the University of Surrey (UK) with the Global Centre for Clean Air Research group, where she monitored climatic conditions and air pollution across green, blue, and grey urban infrastructures, contributing to comparative assessments of environmental performance in different landscape structures.
Outside academia, she enjoys staying active through yoga, pilates, and circus practice, engaging with the arts, and travelling to explore new places and cultures.
